Approach Social Media As 1 Giant Conversation!!

Social media is such a powerful platform.

It truly is, IF you are utilizing it in the correct manner.

Thursday night’s ’100 Day Biz Builder Champion Challenge’ webinar was a 60 minute social media branding extravaganza!!

It was hosted by a high energy couple…the infamous Toby Black & Layla Staats. Toby made the announcement, at the start of the webinar, that they are officially ‘tying the knot’ at the end of July.

Toby & Layla, may you experience MANY MANY years of happiness as your wedded journey together begins!!

Now, here’s a really neat takeaway already that I pulled from the news of their wedding. They are at the financial level with their online businesses that enable them to take most of the month of July OFF in order to plan & prepare for their special event.

How COOL is that?

I’m telling you straight up here, what I’m seeing the ‘younger generation’ do in social media is truly fantastic!!

My hand couldn’t write fast enough as I was pounding down notes from their LIVE video presentation. I knew it was being recorded, BUT I wanted to serve you up this very fresh helping of new content right here & right now in this moment.

See, I’m always thinking about YOU & writing for YOU…1st & foremost.

Toby & Layla literally laid out their social media strategies down on the table, holding nothing back. Here’s basically what they had to say.

Don’t look at any social media platform as a BILLBOARD, but rather as 1 giant CONVERSATION…

Engage the people that you meet by ASKING the types of questions that will lead to continuous interaction. The information/content that you post should be interesting to your audience & what THEY want, not necessarily what you want to tell them about.

In other words, don’t talk AT someone…talk WITH someone. Surround yourself with value, this is a key principle of attraction marketing.

You want to be looked at as the person who always ‘brings it’ & over time people will associate you with value without even thinking twice.

Keep on bouncing those creative ideas around in your head, take action & make them REAL.

Send others over to a video that you shot explaining ‘how to’ do something (a powerful angle to pursue). Also, an inspirational video that you put together works nicely anytime. Well written articles about almost any topic are always fan favorites.

Make this your rough guideline. If a person would say, ‘Cool…I didn’t know that before’.

This is the type of content that you must focus on within the social media communities.

I’ll leave you with these closing thoughts right now…

Act as though you are meeting someone in a grocery store, don’t sound fake or phony. Send personal messages & videos. Upload an appealing photo of yourself to your profile. USE NAMES when communicating. Find a commonality with your new found friends.

Social media is such a powerful platform, use it wisely!!

    Hi Steven,

    All are super tips.

    Luv the mention of using names. We like hearing our name. People who take the time to address us by name are remembered more easily than someone who doesn’t. It makes a firm impress on our mind.

    I like to address by name twice in most messages. A greeting, and a wrap up. This helps me make an impression, and also helps me to associate a name with a face too. Much easier to remember someone’s name when you repeat it a few times.

    It’s personal, not business. Entrepreneurs who keep it personal and informal do well in network marketing. Desperate people repel others. People who are calm, confident and light about their work, become attractive, and keeping your conversations light and relaxed does wonders for your business.

      Thanks for taking the time to visit today, it’s great to see you back. :)

      On using names…I always make it a point to call ANY check-out cashier by theirs. After they hand me my receipt, I’ll say ‘Thank you, Jim’ or whatever their 1st name is. Since they’re usually NOT expecting it, a smile is always the response back.

      This works like a charm, Ryan.

    Bottom line, Be Yourself! Always talk to someone from the point of view of service. Think how can I serve/help this person or people. If you do this alone, don’t have to worry about sounding like a sales person.

      I totally agree again, your words are a ‘staple’ to socialize by in any Internet community. As we send out our energy to the Universe, it will be returned to us in the COOLEST ways.

    Good insight and advice here Steve. It really is all about creating connections, building credibility and never barking at or as you say, talk AT someone.

    It is a conversation that should last forever. I enjoy so much getting to know more about others, learning what they know or what they want to learn, hearing their successes and listening to what didn’t work so well. If you build that attraction, you not only build connections but you build customer longevity.

    Because for me…. I’m in it for the long haul! Really appreciate you sharing this information and sounded like a wonderful webinar event!

        And I also agree with Ryan (up there). Using peoples first name is a great way to build a more solid connection. As people do appreciate you using their name, as like Ryan says, they like hearing their name too.

    An awesome article about one giant conversation among people. So many networker’s forget on how to engage in conversation that they go straight to business leaving the whole getting to know someone out of the picture. I am glad that we have met through the Respectful Networking group on Facebook. This tells me that you truly understand what it takes to be a professional in the business.
