Is It Time To Freshen Up Your Blog Makeup?
Hi, if you're new here, feel free to subscribe to my RSS FEED. I always want you to receive my freshest content...HOT off my WordPress!!
Your blog makeup is a direct reflection on you…
There are NO ands, ifs or buts about it.
If you lay it on too heavy, you may be scaring people away, looking overly flashy & artificial. If you’re not wearing enough, then people might have a tendency to pass you right by, almost as if your blog is invisible.
You must apply your blog makeup so you appear naturally attractive!!
Everything in life really boils down to balance. Picture, if you will, a tightrope walker. This person has NO ROOM for error. Leaning a tad more, to their left side or right side, may impact their performance…literally.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you knew that every decision that you are going to make for the rest of your life is going to be the correct 1?
I know, I’m veering off here into ‘perfect land’, a magical place where mistakes are never made. Don’t put that added pressure on yourself believing that a fantasy like this could ever be real.
A quote from motivational coach Les Brown, ‘Perfection doesn’t exist…you can always better your best’.

Your blog makeup is dynamic in nature, taking on various complexions as you evolve moving forward!!
I want you to stop right here & think back to the time when your blog was brand spanking new. Maybe it was yesterday or it could have been 5 years ago.
Now, how many times has your blog makeup changed? I bet quite a few right? Probably not at all if you only launched it yesterday…but, you may be tweaking it already.
This is what’s SO COOL & don’t forget, the nickname ‘blog’ is shortened from the word ‘weblog’. You are in essence writing a journal, on specific topics, at specific points in time. I consider mine as a diary that continues to manifest.
As you advance in your blogging education, your blog makeup skills elevate to higher levels as well. Your confidence builds & you begin stepping into areas where you never thought you’d step in a million years.

Of course, this is a pretty obvious 1, but I’ll mention it anyway. Putting yourself out in the field & visiting fellow Blogger’s blogs is an excellent way to gather ideas on how you can ‘pretty up’ your blog makeup.
Hang around after you’ve read an article (don’t forget to leave a comment) & see if something catches your eye, you never know when you’ll say, ‘I want that on my blog too’.
The most recent freshening up that I have done here is on my footer. Yep, ALL THE WAY DOWN at the bottom of the page.
Pause right here & go take a peak at it…
Okay, so you’re back?
A thought sparked in my head 1 day as I was on Mavis Nong’s blog. She wrote this fantastic article, Blogging Tips – Are You Making the Most of Your Blog Footer?
After I finished reading it completely, bells & whistles were sounding off in my head…they were LOUD. I knew I was meant to see Mavis’s article because my footer was in need of a well deserved makeover.
Here’s my take on a blog footer. It’s the same as a ‘PS’ on a sales letter. I have learned that a reader’s eye is drawn directly to the PS before they look at or read any other copy. Oh yes, marketing’s all about the psyche you know.
Paying attention to the little details is what makes great blogs even greater. I want you to think about yours for a few minutes. What’s 1 area that could use a little lift in the ‘pizzaz’ department? Think it over & see what you can do about it.
Well, I have to let you go right now, I really have enjoyed our conversation today. To be continued then? I’ll see you soon.
I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts on blog makeup, so please leave a comment below!!
