What’s The Issue With Letting Go Of Fear?
Hi, if you're new here, feel free to subscribe to my RSS FEED. I always want you to receive my freshest content...HOT off my WordPress!!
Because it has to do with the human psyche, letting go of fear is a very complex & sensitive area.
So many factors play into how we think & why we do the things we do, our likes & dislikes, mannerisms, all affecting how we handle letting go of fear.
A Psychologist friend once told me that a persons ‘make up’ is already determined by the age of 7 years. Everything that happens up until that age is so very critical as far as molding the type of behavior that they will exhibit from that point forward in their life.
I’m going to tell you a story about my own personal experience, that I would say, created a fear for me when I was young.
It’s very ironic too, because my zodiac sign is Aquarius & the letting go of fear has to do with water, swimming as a matter of fact. I don’t remember my exact age, but I was probably around 8 years old.
It was a warm Sunday afternoon, my family & I went to visit relatives who we hadn’t seen in quite awhile.
As we were visiting with them, I was encouraged to go into the pool to cool off. I thought to myself, hey…why not? I was pretty warm at that. So, I grabbed an inflatable float, climbed up on it & positioned myself lying belly up.
Now, after just floating around for awhile I became VERY relaxed…No one else was in the pool but me. All of a sudden, I was FLIPPED OVER into the water…talk about a PANIC ATTACK!!
As I came up for air & resurfaced, I see that it was my cousin who dunked me. Needless to say, my day transitioned from having fun into flapping uncontrollably thinking I was going to drown.
The reason that I am telling this story is because I have compassion for anyone when it comes to the topic of letting go of fear. Fears are all shapes & all sizes. Depending how far they are ‘rooted’ directly relates to how easily they can be dealt with…IF they can be dealt with at all.
Letting go of fear is a HUGE obstacle to get past & don’t we wish it was that easy as jumping over a hurdle to make it go away.
I remember Les Brown speaking on public television one day & he said, We are born with the fear of falling & the fear of a loud sound…all other fears are LEARNED.
Conditioning as we are growing up, being told negative things from a parent, labeling…that we are not good enough to even take on a certain challenge or learn a new skill all factor into how good we are at letting go of fear.
We are only human & we do the best we can when dealing with letting go of fear. No matter what they are or how big they are, we still have to live our lives as normally as possible every day.
My advice here…build confidence with something you are passionate about. Over time, you’ll feel an increased sense of security.
Then, letting go of fear may no longer be an issue like it once was.
