Well, for starters, your WordPress blog is ALL YOURS & no one elses!!

It’s your piece of ‘virtual real estate’ on the Internet. Your WordPress blog has its own unique address just like an actual  brick & mortar home has. You can make it as comfortable & cozy as you like it to be, while you invite the whole World in to visit. This is your golden opportunity to truly shine.

Your WordPress blog is the IDEAL place to establish your personal brand & display your own uniqueness.

Whatever it is that makes you…YOU, don’t hold anything back now.

WHOA, let me pause this right here & rewind it just a little bit…your Blog is a WordPress blog, correct?

So sorry for that interruption, but it’s an important question that I had to ask you before I continue.

Okay, back to branding. Your personality is a critical component to the overall makeup of your WordPress blog. The amount of creative energy that you inject into your writing is what’s going to keep your readers & visitors WANTING to come back for more. Believe me, they will.

Another detail that adds a nice touch is your personal story or about me page. I tagged mine as my biography, you can call yours whatever you wish. It doesn’t have to a Pulitzer prize winner & of course, you DON’T want to glaze anyone’s eyes over by making it too long.

You know, I’ve actually visited Blogs that look like a vacant property. NO names, NO pictures or videos, NO contact form, NOTHING. If I were to hand out a branding score, it would be a big fat ZERO!!

Moving on to 1 of the most crucial components of your WordPress blog is a capture form. Building your personal list should be a TOP priority when you are Blogging, this is a given.

I utilize AWeber for this specific purpose. I created a ‘lightbox’ that fades in when you 1st land on my Blog. I set it so you’ll only see it ONCE in a 24 hour period. I want you to opt-in, but I don’t want to wash your face with it.

Once again, I’ve been to Blogs where lightboxes are used & I don’t know why, but the owner has it set to display every time I click to a different page. If you want to really ANNOY visitors, set yours the same way, lol.

While I’m on the topic of opt-ins & list building within your WordPress blog, IF you would like to DOUBLE your conversions…

1 more area that I need to mention before I wrap it today. Your WordPress blog has to be equipped with the ability for your readers/visitors to socially share your content.

Your publishing fresh ‘front page’ news on a steady basis & readers, who you’re building rapport with, are LOVIN’ your stuff…comments are pouring in from every direction & life is good. Now, the rest of the World must know about it.

I’ll save these tidbits for another time, another article…I think you get my drift though about social syndicating.

Your WordPress blog IS command central, a gathering place for like minded people who LOVE to interact!!

    That’s what I’m working toward, making my blog my “hub” or “command central” as you call it. I still have ways to go to make it “look” the way I want it to but I didn’t want to let that stop me from posting. Sometimes waiting for something to be perfect means never to get things going.

      I always like to say that our Blogs are a dynamic ‘work in process’, never standing still…tweaking on the fly.

      As far as perfection is concerned, I can relate to what Les Brown says, ‘Perfection doesn’t exist, we can always better our best’.

      I’m so happy that I maybe triggered several new idea’s for you. I’m tweaking my Blog all the time, .org’s are definitely the way to go because of the endless flexibility that they offer. Our Blogs are a ‘work in process’, dynamic & never static.

    Well said Steve and love the way you communicate! If there is anything that I lack is the knack for creative writing like yourself.

    The tips and advice you give is spot on. Why do so many people have blogs without finding their name anywhere. Long gone is when you thought the company name was more important. People want to know who YOU are and WHY you are here.

    Really enjoyed they way you added in your other blog post to – again, very clever and creative. Can I hire you to be my writer?!!

      WOW, thank you so much for your kind words…they mean a lot to me. You know, an idea pops in my head & it all comes from my heart. It seems the more I write, the easier it flows through to my keypad. My abilities have been elevated though, ever since I’ve been a member of MyLeadSystemPRO. Jordan Schultz is my Mentor & I’m participating in a 100 day challenge that he originally spearheaded back in January…along with Adam Chandler.

      IF people want to truly ‘brand’ themselves, they have to let it ALL hang out without holding back. Granted, they may be a little reserved at 1st & may need some time before they put it ALL out there. They haven’t gotten to a point where they ‘believe’ in their VALUE I’m guessing.

    Great post, Steven! I couldn’t agree with you more about the importance of building your blog to make it look more like home. It’s amazing how easy it is to miss things. For example, for the longest time, I couldn’t figure out how to get more than one widget on the side of my page. Also, I seemed to have all kinds of problems getting my autoresponder page set up. Now that it looks a lot better, it definitely feels a lot more inviting, and I’ve noticed that the average number of pageviews per visitor has gone up by about 1/3. It really is amazing how just a few simple things make such a big difference.

      It is funny how we have things right under our noses all along. But you know, we probably aren’t ready for them yet at that particular time. When the student is ready, the tools will appear.

      I think it’s SO COOL learning new things every day, sometimes unintentionally…lol

    Your WP blog is command central, or one-stop-shopping for readers. Articles, videos, podcasts, reviews; you can post them all to your blog.

    Put your stamp on your blog. Make it yours by providing an insightful – but brief – about me page, post a few photos of yourself, and let your personality out. Readers want to connect a face with the name, a face with the content. Being able to see the person makes a blog much more personable, and helps form a strong bond with your audience.

    A blog can be the most powerful of branding tools is properly designed. The more “you” you make it, and the less generic, the better, for people want to get to know you better. Put your stamp on each page and you can’t help but set up your own one-stop-shopping portal.
